Have no idea why bars like ugly 777 and other small gogo bars have katoi shows.
Most of the people who visit those bars are looking for a take off.
As some other poster said on this board, if the shows start its time for me to leave.
Thats what I am doing also and probably many more.
Don't the bar owners notice this or are shows good for ????for what ???

'Why boys bars have katoi shows ?'

I had presumed because it made economic sense. Take Boyz Boyz Boyz, as an example; it ticks along very nicely when the go-go boys are on stage, yet it fills up when the lady boy dancers come on. I'm not saying all the bars are as busy as BBB, but surely they are all busier when they put these shows on.

That was me. I don't like those shows, but apparently plenty of other people do enjoy those shows and the bars fill up at show time. I don't begrudge anyone for that. Often people use the expression, "If you don't like it, why don't you leave?" That's exactly what I do. If others enjoy those shows I have no problem with that at all. I just go to another bar that doesn't have those shows. Everybody's happy.

Everyone has his own tastes. I think my tastes are quite different from the majority because I also don't like the hard core sex shows. I don't like watching boys masturbate publicly. I don't like porn. But that's just me. Then again, I'm the type that on New Year's Eve I'm more likely to have a glass of Pepto Bismol . . . on the rocks of course. In other words, it's very rare for me to be unable to be the designated driver.

Is that some obscure form of sexual deviancy? - (or just another way of saying you are a top??) !! laugh.gif

I think that there are two reasons why bars put on lady-boy shows.

1) Fun. Because the owners/ Mamasan and staff like dressing up as fantasy women and displaying their attractions and occasionally their lip synching talents. I think that 777 and Monty's come unto this category.

2) Commerce. There are bars and theatres which exist to showcase lady-boys and sometimes their artistic skills - dancing and miming. These range from Alkazar and Tiffany to Dolce Vita and Over the Rainbow. Other bars, usually go-go bars, have lady-boy sections in their shows.

I like to see these sometimes especially when there is a star performers such as Boyz Boyz Boyz's Madam Jim or Khun New. But for many, the 'act' is the dressing up.

They obviously are commercially a success despite the heavy costs involved.

Most bars aim to have a mix of go-go boys on offer from effeminate to butch so a section of the clients would be interested. Quite why Tawan, the bodybuilder bar, have them is a mystery.

I also think it has a lot to do with the fact that those bars, like to get straight people into there so called gay venue's.
They want gays and straight as their customers. I do not like this practise. I think you shouild make a choice or you cater to gays or you cater to straights.

I would have thought that a perfect occasion to stay far far away. But that's just me.

Shows in drag are a throwback to a 1950's cliche as to what 'other' people think gay folks find entertaining. Also to what they think all gay folks act & dress like ~ in 1955. Why it continues to this day is beyond me.
Even worse ... all drag shows are mind-bogglingly tacky. I last a grand total of 3 minutes (tops) when I inadvertantly walk into a venue with a drag show going on without due warning.

Cheers ...

There's a big difference between entertainers who manage to play the role of a famous celebrity so well that it's fun to watch them do their impersonations - and guys who just like to parade around in drag, especially the 50+ guys who should know better, or the young drag queens who are in love with their new breasts. Good impersonators are rarely if ever seen in any gogo bar show I have seen. Bad hags or talentless drag queens prevail. Why anyone things they are worth paying to see is beyond me.
