"Thai Prime Minister Gen Surayud Chulanont said here Saturday he would speak on global concerns about climate change when he attends UN summit later this month

Speaking during his weekly television programme, Gen Surayud said his speech on global warming is part of the 62nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) which is scheduled to start next week.

Foreign Minister Nitya Pibulsonggram will accompany the prime minister during the meeting in which global warming is expected to be one of the major issues to be discussed by the delegates.

Gen Surayud said he would address the General Assembly September 27."

No doubt, he will wear something yellow and tell everyone that the sufficiency theory is the solution to global warming.

Hehehe......

Frankly, I's not sure what the PM has to say on this issue that's anything but pious rhetoric. George Bush has been a disaster on this issue but there aren't too many countries that have taken significant action, as opposed to just talking about it - Thailand included.

I doubt that Thailand has enacted a single law, much less a comprehensive group of environmental laws, designed to significantly reduce the emmissions originating here and causing global warming. In fact, Thailand seems to be going in the other direction, creating more emmissions by using more and more coal to produce energy because of the high price of oil. I suspect the PM won't be talking about that and other inconvenient truths at the UN.
