According to an article in the papers today, they are finally going to switch the airport taxi stand to the second level of the new airport, which is the level that passengers arrive on. I never could understand how anyone with half a brain would have done otherwise from Day One.
According to the same article, they claim to have arrested more than 900 illegal taxis and tour guides operating at the airport in the past few months. They don't say how much those arrested were fined or how many have just returned to prowl the airport again. They say they are looking into ways to prevent repeat offenders. You will excuse me if I have my doubts about whether or how long this crackdown on gypsy cabs will last.
