The controversy surrounding the Prime Minister's ownership of resort land near Korat, land that allegedly encroaches illegally on a national forest, got a lot more messy today, according to the following bulletin in the Bangkok Post:
"A panel investigating Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont's resort on reserved forest found that Gen Surayud has transferred the land to his son Chun less than two months after he came into power.
The panel, led by Chumpol Sangthong, who is a close aide of National Legislative Assembly member Prasong Soonsiri, revealed new information that Gen Surayud transferred the controversial piece of land on Khao Yai Thieng to his son on November 7 of last year.
Mr Chumpol said Gen Surayud did not report the ownership of the piece of land to the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) after he took the top post, which was before he owned the land to his son.
He accused Gen Surayud of possibly concealing his assets. Mr Chumpol said the panel will forward this matter to the NCCC for investigation." http://www.bangkokpost.com/breaking_news/b...s.php?id=122688

Apparently, the reports about the transfer to the son last November are true. Why the PM never disclosed this information until today is mystifying, especially since he's been saying for the past month that the whole story has been told long ago.
"Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont admitted having transferred controversial land located on Khao Yai Thieng mountain to his youngest son but insisted he has no intention to conceal this from public.
"It was originally owned by my wife, who later transferred it to our son," Gen Surayud told reporters. "It is family matter and we have no intention to hide this."
His response came after the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) panel investigating the premier's land holding reported on Tuesday that the registered owner of the property was changed from his wife Khunying Chitravadee to his son Chul Chulanont on Nov 7 last year.
The panel suspected that this could be grounds for a National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) investigation, as the team wonders if Gen Surayud accurately disclosed all assets to the NCCC.
The premier said he is ready to clarify this to the public."
