When General Sonthi turned up as Deputy Prime Mnister the day after he retired from the Army, a lot of people thought it was the camel getting more than just his nose under the tent. Yesterday, it was announced that Gen Sonthi Boonyaratkalin is now chairman of a "committee to prevent electoral fraud" in the upcoming elections.

Many of the Thai newspapers are calling Sonthi's new committee the "shadow Election Commission". But General Sonthi is quoted as saying: “My job has nothing to do with the way the Election Commission works. All I am required to do is to prevent electoral fraud and make sure that the general election runs smoothly. We have to keep these two responsibilities separate.”

Clear isn't it ....................like mud !!!!!
