"Deputy Prime Minister Gen Sonthi Boonyaratglin said Friday that he would disclose the plan for his political future on Monday. "I'll give the answer on November 13," Sonthi replied when asked whether he has made a decision regarding his political future.

He said it was too late now to apply as a party-list candidate.

But when asked whether he would stand in the next election, Sonthi replied: "I don't know".

He laughed when asked whether he would remain in the Cabinet until the interim government completes its term. "This government will complete its term," he replied."

The good general is either having some fun playing with the press, or, more likely, he probaby doesn't see any problem or conflict of interest in saying that he's going to run as a candidate in elections he also says he's supervising to maintain their integrity. If he does choose to run in Lop Buri, the most likely place given its high number of military stationed there, he may decide to personally take charge of counting the votes too ! If all else fails, there's always another coup !
