Enjoy yourself.
It's later than you think!
Enjoy yourself.
While you're still in the pink!
The years go by,
As quickly as a wink.
Enjoy yourself.
Enjoy yourself.
It's later than you think.

I got an email this morning from some friends back home, informing me that one of our social clique had passed away in his sleep at the age of 58, in seemingly perfect health.

He loved Pattaya and told me how he planned to retire to Thailand as a happy expat when he turned 60.

For any of you who are thinking about it and can afford it, do it now.

The only regret I will ever have is not doing it 5 years earlier.

Your story hits home since I'm 58 and plan to retire to Pattaya in 3 years. Think it's time to sharpen the pencil and check my retirement planner again.

I retired about a year ago at 52. I was at the top of my earning curve where earnings exceeded liabilities and if I worked till I was 60 or even 55, I would be able to put away quite a lot of money but I worked the numbers and early retirement and living in Thailand was workable. I did it and have no regrets.

I was talking to a Thai guy the other day and he asked me how old I was and what I did for work. I told him that I was retired, no work. He looked surprised and said, " no work--no work! not understand, sick?" No, feel good, " oh, you must just be tink tong then".

I too retired last year, but at age 54. Like Thongpai, I could have put away a tidy sum, if I continued to work until 60. Why continue to work? Is it to make the nieces and nephews rich? I don't think so. Although it is an adjustment to be a man of leisure, I am sure enjoying it. Just do it and enjoy life, even though you may be a little ting tong. smile.gif

Today its the firts day of my retirement in Pattaya.
Hopefully I have money enough to be comfortable over here.
I have 250.000 euro on the bank and a pension of 1500 euro a month. Would this be enough?
I also would say " One life, live IT "

If half of what you say is true, it might get you through the first 6 months with your Thai motorbike and muffler wizard.

Hehehe....
