"Chart Thai deputy leader Somsak Prissananantakul expressed disagreement in the charter amendments, saying he fears that this will lead to political crisis like two years ago.
"I think there is still time. There is no need to amend the constitution now," Mr Somsak, who is also the Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister. "If the amendments are done but cause disunity in the country, then it is useless."
He said that now is not the best time to amend the constitution, because there is strong opposition from the society, which may lead to disunity like before.
On Monday, People Power party has decided to defer its plan to rewrite the constitution to make sure it can muster enough support from other coalition parties to push for the amendment bill to pass through its first reading in parliament."
