"A committee in Chiang Mai proposed Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej to help solve the sluggish tourism situation in the province. The committee wanted the government to speed up the bidding procedure for an exhibition hall, the construction for dual railed and high speed trains and the reduction of entrance fees to national parks for foreign tourists.

It said foreigners should be charged 200 from 400 baht to enter Doi Intanon.

Other groups also sought a brief meeting with Mr Samak during his visit to the northern province.Mae Tang water users called on the government to build a reservoir in the district to help solve flood problems."

I wonder if anyone thought that the toxic air pollution in the city might be contributing to the lack of tourism ?
