If you are going to be renewing your one-year Thai driver's license in Pattaya any time soon, please note that they are requiring for renewal what looks to be everything that you needed in the first place to get a license, including the following:

1. Your passport with valid visa

2. Valid International drivers' License or valid license from your home country

3. Certificate of Residence issued by Pattaya Immigration

4. Health Certificate not more than 30 days' old

5. Two license-sized photos ( there are facilites next door for getting these)

6. Your expired one-year Thai drivers' license

For a renewal? I think you are mistaken about that. When I renewed my Thai driver's license nobody asked for either. You don't even have to produce either of those for a first Thai driver's license, as long as you are willing to sit through that two hour movie and take the written and driving tests. It wouldn't make any sense to require those for a renewal, but then again look where we are.

It is also my understanding that photos are no longer required. I was told they now have their own photo equipment and do the photos with a computer.

It has been some time since I renewed my 1 year for a 5 year, but as I recall, as does GB, I had to have everything shown on the list except for Int'l driver permit and/or my own country's driver license (those were required for my initial license to avoid the "picture show" and the driving test). Also, the new Thai driver license, has a digital photo printed on it, which I understand, they take at the driver license office - so no photos now required.
