Russians take over from British as ugliest tourists

Germans holidaymakers accuse them of being loud, boorish and frequently drunk. But for once the Teutonic battle of the sun loungers is not being fought with British tourists, but against Russians.

As holiday season reaches its peak with millions of Germans on their travels, many disgruntled 'urlauber' [holidaymakers] are arriving at their favourite resorts to find unwelcome interlopers at the best poolside places.

This year the traditional British holiday foe is not to blame however, having been replaced by a new threat - visiting hordes from Russia.

"They're even worse than the Engländer," mass circulation Bild splashed on its front page. "The Russians have conquered German holiday paradise."

Bild's outrage comes just weeks after it launched a broadside on "athletically challenged, binge drinking" British tourists, and produced a list of holiday destinations to avoid in order to escape the "vomit-stained" traces of British revelry.

Then, the paper spluttered with disbelief that a British man had won damages after finding his Greek hotel jammed with German tourists.

Now however, the Germans seem to have warmed to British holidaymakers.

I love this!

With the silly season upon us, newspapers and magazines cast their eyes about in desperation. They alight on a tried and trusted source: Stereotypical Germans pitted against the rest.

Now we have a new kid on the block. Those nasty Ruskies. You don't need a long memory to conjure up images of Solzhenitsyn, gulags, the missile crisis, hatchet-faced apparatchiks, Iron Curtains, purges, spies, (a sober!?) Boris Yeltsin in front of the tanks......and more recently billionaire oligarchs. But what are their people actually like?

Now we know! Thanks to the Germans we now know these pesky Russians are even worse than us Brits. That's fightin' talk mister......go for your gun! This story will run and run.

But closer inspection of this article reveals...what? That they're tiresome, not very good-looking (both sexes), extremely numerous in Turkey and fond of the oldest profession. That's hardly an indictment.

I think the usual phrase is: innocent until proved guilty.

They are buying lots of property and some agents claim that Russians will account for 40% of all real estate purchases in a few years. I have been told, but never have seen, lady bars in Pattaya staffed by Russian women.

They're 'al fresco' - you just need walk along Beach Road, Walking Street or Second Road or hang around Pratumnak Road any evening, BTW take your own booze !

Are you talking about Russian hookers plying their trade on the street or working as dancers in lady gogo bars ? Any sign of Russian men hustling anywhere ?

There is a gogo bar with only Russian girl...walking street. They openly dance in a window high above the street...for everybody to see. They just dance gogo and for that you do not need a work permit..They are just dancing..They are not allowed to be offed......but...!!??

There is a disco at the end of the walking street,Bali Hai...which has hundreds of Russian girls( holidaymakers!!??) many many farangs go there to find a Russian girl.

Thai Girls are not AMUSED...so to speak !!!!

I still wonder whether that killing of two young Russian women at Jomtien beach wasn't meant by the local Thai vice merchants as a warning to these Russian girls and their handlers.

I assume that someone must be paying off the authorities if all these Russian hookers are running around free of arrest.
