"Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva fears he is being targeted for assassination. He quoted an intelligence report that there was a plan to attack him. Chuan Leekpai, chief adviser of the ruling Democrat party, already warned him of the threat, Mr Abhisit said.
Speaking after presiding over a ceremony to offer alms to 182 Buddhist monks for New Year at Sanam Luang yesterday, he said he would not visit other provinces in the near future because his government would have to work out economic measures first.
Crowds of senior officials and the public attended the ceremony. However, a group of about 20 red-clad protesters showed up. They claimed Mr Abhisit did not deserve to be prime minister because he had dodged conscription."
