My favorite fruit juice in Thailand is Pomelo juice, their version of grapefruit. I especially liked the pomello juice made by Malee.
I have noticed, however, in the past six months that Pomelo juice has disappeared from all the supermarket shelves in Pattaya, including Lotus, Big C, Carrefour and Friendship. I inquired from the staff and was simply told: Mai mee. ( don't have )
You can still buy whole pomellos at the fruits markets, but try and find the juice.
I suspect that they must be getting top prices for exporting Pomello juice to some markets and have withdrawn it from domestic sales in Thailand.
Does anyone know if you can still buy Pomello juice at supermarkets in Bangkok ?
Where's the Pomelo juice ?

While I actually don't know, I would take a stab and suggest that the supply of juice on the market relates more when the main harvest occurs (the juice being available for a few months after the harvest starts). Typically, one only uses extra or poor-condition fruit for the making of juice so there's likely a limited supply (typically, fresh fruit sells for more as fresh fruit). I also understand that Pomelo juice is difficult to store for long periods of time (it eventually turns thicker).
So, if you're right that the juice hasn't been available in about 6 months, that suggests to me that the main harvest time period might be early in the year and the juice ought to be available by February or March.
[No charge for this almost pure guess. I say "almost" as I'm familiar with how the juice market works here in the US. For example, you can find apple cider (unprocessed apple juice) for only about 3 months in the stores here as it rapidly deteriorates. "Regular" apple juice - which is highly processed- is available year round but I'm doubtful that the Indonesians, Thais, or Chinese highly process much Pomelo juice (presuming it can be processed to the extent that apple juice can be)].

It all sounds good to me Bob, and I know nothing abut juice, but as someone who has lived here for over 10 years, I don't remember Pomelo juice being only available at certain times of the year - until now. I used to switch between Pomelo and apple for breakfast all year.
I thought it was just a quirk that they always seem to be sold out of Pomelo when I was shopping. It's interesting to see someone else has noticed its disappearance from the supermarkets.

I'm retired.
Having to open the carton is enough work for me. When I think about peeling the pomelo, juicing it, and then having to strain the juice to get the membrane and seeds out, I suddenly find apple juice irresistable.

I have a juicer, and the worst part is cleaning the bloody thing after each use. I guess after buying the B3000 juicer I should have bought a B30,000 automatic dishwasher.

Several dishwashers at Home Pro last time I was there. Also, based on my experience with the thoroughness of Thai maids, I don't think they'd get the juicer parts as clean as I prefer. They're good at what they know, but to take apart a juicer and scrub bits of fruit/veg flesh off of a grater? You need to use a stiff brush, as it will shred a sponge or cloth. And that stuff gets everyplace inside the juicer. Have you ever cleaned one? :-)
