If you were wondering how they are going to pick the 2000 members of the National People's Assembly, which is supposed to then pick the drafters of the new constitution, read this article:
"The chairman of the sub-committee scrutinising the qualifications of the 2,000 prospective members of the National People's Assembly (NPA) yesterday expressed concern about people with close connections to senior civil servants being nominated to the assembly.
A provincial sub-committee in each province was asked to nominate 10 NPA members. Among the 10, two must represent farmers, two industrial and business groups, two service and business professionals, two non-governmental organisations, one village headmen, and one kamnans.
However, it has been found that most of the 760 people nominated by the provincial sub-committees are closely connected to senior provincial state officials, he said.
"None of the community groups or people's organisations that actually fought for better living conditions for local residents were selected," Mr Prapas said.
Once established, the 2,000-member National People's Assembly will select 200 members from among themselves, and the CNS will pick another 100 from those shortlisted to sit on the constitution-drafting council."
