This kind of survey could give polling a bad name :
"People's happiness dwindled in January, according to a survey conducted by Assumption University's Abac Poll.
Out of 10 points, the gross domestic happiness (GDH) index dropped from 6.81 points in December to 6.59 last month.
The physical health index fell from 7.39 to 7.35 while the mental health index decreased from 7.36 to 7.33. The employee happiness index also reduced to 5.77 from 6.65. People's happiness index on the economy fell from 3.26 to 3.09 and their happiness index on the political situation decreased from 3.07 to 3.01.
However, other happiness indices, such as loyalty, family and social relations, cultural practices, access to medical services, environmental surroundings and accommodations were still positive.
According to the survey, only 10.0 per cent were fully living self-sufficiently, 36.1 per cent led self-sufficient lives to a certain extent, 39.1 per cent were not really leading their lives in a self-sufficient manner and 14.8 per cent were not self-sufficient at all. The main factors that prevented people from leading self-sufficient lives included engaging in vices and gambling."

At the risk of sounding naive, does anyone ever define what this "sufficiency" thing means. Based on this poll, it sounds to me like it simply means living within your income and not spending more than you earn, presumably by not using your credit card or borrowing money. No doubt, the billionaires who run this country from their mansions have no problem with that, never having had to struggle for survival living on a rice farm.
