I agree. But it does raise a pertinent point even though in this case it might be a work of fiction.
These sites are relying on people's curiosity to enhance their business. If you open unsolicited email from any site, but particularly porn sites, you are letting them know that your email address is valid and active and it will only result in even more unwanted mail and spam . As a side-line they will also sell or exchange your email address with other like minded businesses.
