It was easy to overlook it, but there was an editorial in the Nation yesterday which basically stated that that massacre of 12 Moslems In June at the mosque in Narathiwat's Joh I Rong district was perpetrated by Buddhist vigilantes and that the government is doing little to bring the culprits to justice. According to the editorial: "Some of the suspects were members of the Aor Ror Bor, or the Township Defence Volunteers, a network of government-trained militia organisations whose members are exclusively Buddhists."
The Thai government keeps suggesting that Thai Moslems staged this massacre to try and blame the government. The Nation seems to suggest the opposite.

You can wager your last Baht that no one will ever be prosecuted for this latest massacre. Buddhists don't get prosecuted in the south, even through there's clear evidence that paramilitary death squads are active there. The really sad part is that the vast majority of Thais, including the Bangkok swells who show up at Buddhist funerals only, don't care what happens to Thai muslims.
