Deputy Prime Minister for security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban said he will not allow any demonstrations in Hua Hin and Cha-am during the Asean summit scheduled for Oct 23 to 25.
He was confident that the imposition of the Internal Security Act in Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Hua Hin and Petchburi’s Cha -am from Oct 12 to 25 would enable the government to keep the situation under control.

“The government already has measures to deal with the red-shirts if they rally in areas near the hotels in Hua Hin and Cha-amm which are meeting venues,” Mr Suthep said on Thursday morning. He assured the supporters of the anti-government United front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) that if they peacefully rally, the government will not obstruct them.

Regarding the red-shirts' demand for a progress report on the petition for royal pardon of the fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Mr Suthep said they can ask about it but they cannot use force to get it. The UDD claims the government has shelved the petition and has announced plans for a protest rally in Bangkok on Saturday."

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said Monday that the government will not tolerate any red-shirt rally in Cha-am and Hua Hin during the Asean summit. He said he would not allow Arissaman Pongruangrong to rally at the summit venue.

"Arissaman has done much enough damage to the country in Pattaya and he is still hooked by legal cases," Suthep said when asked to comment on Arissaman's announcement that he would submit letters to Asean leaders.

Arisssaman led red-shirt protesters to storm into the venue of the Asean summit in Pattaya, causing it to collapse.During the rally on Saturday, Arissaman vowed to rally in Hua Hin and Cha-am and submit letters to Asean leaders to tell them that the Abhisit government had allegedly killed innocent people in April.

"I'll find out about the progress of legal cases against Arissaman," Suthep said.
