"His Majesty the King's health condition is no longer worrying, said his daughter HRH Princess Chulabhorn Walailak. "Now there is nothing to worry about his heart conditions and lung infections," she told officials at Thai embassy in Germany during her visit there.

Before his ongoing recovery from illnesses, HM the King had high fever and so weak that he was unable to walk. The conditions have improved after the first week of treatments, at Siriraj Hospital where he was admitted on September 19. "Now there is nothing to worry about his heart conditions and lung infections.

"What the doctors are taking care of now is a rehabilitative treament. As it's usual for elder people who are in beds for treatments for many days, they may not be able to walk stably. That is the only reason still keeping him in the hospital, as for the symptoms, the doctors say that there is nothing dangerฌous [to the King's health] now," she added."

Who said anything (until now)about "heart conditions" ? It might help reassure a lot of people that this isn't very serious stuff if there were attending doctors giving professional medical status reports, perhaps even press conferences with Q&A, not off-the-cuff "not to worry" comments made by a family member in far off Germany. The lack of professional details can only add to speculation and rumors about the true state of affairs.

I agree with Dolly. According to one account I just read of the princess' interview in Germany, the King was so fatigued when admitted to the hospital that he not only could not walk, he had to be "fed intravenously." That kind of profound fatigue is serious in anyone, especially an 80 year old with some kind of "heart condition."

And they got the scientist daughter to make the announcement on his health, to pacify the Thai sheep who will accordingly baa in chorus, "She should know what she's talking about; she's a scientist. Baa, baa..."

It looks like the rosy picture from Germany that all's well didn't last very long:

Bulletin: "His Majesty the King's doctors administered a new dosage of antibiotics after his lungs were found still to be inflamed, the Royal Household Bureau said in a statement released last night.

His Majesty's fever, however, had lessened and he could sleep well and had regained his appetite, the bureau said in its 28th statement since the King was admitted to Siriraj Hospital with a high fever and inflamed lungs on September 19."
