[attachmentid=619] "HM the King has made his first public appearance since getting admitted at the Siriraj Hospital over a month ago, coming down to the hospital's ground floor to pay homage to his late mother and King Rama V on the occassion of the Piya Maharaja Day.
It was an emotional scene as many well-wishers wept as His Majesty made his appearance on his electronic wheelchair to place garlands for the portraits of his late mother and King Rama V. A lot of well-wishers were at the hospital today as it is a public holiday. Tears rolled down their faces as emotional "Long Live the King" were uttered and echoed on the hospital's ground floor."

I wasn't able to catch any live coverage in Thai TV. Does anyone know if the King spoke audibly at all during his appearance ?

The TV videos showed him talking to aides, but nothing was audible. He also appeared to have no problem using both hands, negating some rumors that he had suffered a stroke. As far as I saw, he made no attempt to stand, remaing in a wheelchair the entire time. All in all, he looked frail, but his face seemed normal and alert with no hint of any disabling post-stroke symptoms. Obviously, his advisers wanted the world to see him to end the rumors that he was suffering from more than a "lung inflammation."You can't help but marvel at the adulation he receives from people who are clearly devoted to him.
