There was a photo in this morning's hard copy of the Bangkok Post, showing a massive traffic tie-up of hundreds of cars, trucks and buses on the Bang-Na/Trat Road for hours. It was a protest staged by truck and bus drivers who parked their vehicles in the middle of the highway to call attention to the fact that police are routinely extorting money by pulling vehicles over for no reason and demanding "tea money."
I hooe someone decides to stage that protest on Sukhumvit south of Pattaya, where two sets of policeman are practicing the art of highway robbery almost every day of the week. I think they know my car by now and after the last episode when I refused to pay, they don't even try to wave me down anymore.
Traffic snarled over police extortion on highway
