[attachmentid=734] Tens of thousands of red-shirt protesters joined a motorcade around Bangkok on Saturday morning, hoping to rally support from he city's residents for their campaign to bring down the government. The huge convoy caused massive traffic congestion as it passed slowly along many of the city's main thoroughfares. The mobile protest was led by red-shirts on thousands of motorcycles, with pick-trucks and cars in the middle, and ended with more motorcycles.

The protesters began moving out of their base at Phan Fa bridge about 10am, and planned to move along 45km of Bangkok's streets throughout the day. The mobile rally is scheduled to end about 6pm.

Police estimated that up tp 30,000 demonstrators would join the convoy, half of them from the provinces."

Meanwhile, back at this "safe house" inside the army base:

"Prime Minister Abhisitvejjajiva has cancelled all appointments for today and will monitor the red-shirt mobile rally at the 11th Infantry Regiment on Pahon Yothin road, reports said. Mr Abhisit also attended this morning’s meeting of the peacekeeping centre at the military camp, chaired by his deputy Suthep Thaugsuban who is in charge of security affairs, to assess the situation."
