"After facing a barrage of jeers and insults from red shirt protesters on the first stop of his planned inspection of drought-hit areas in Nong Khai, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has abruptly called it quits. Mr Abhisit and a delegation yesterday boarded five military helicopters to travel to Sangkhom Witthaya School in Sangkhom district for a briefing on the drought and the low water level in the Mekong River where it passes Nong Khai.

More than 100 members of the anti-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) rushed to the school soon after he arrived. The number of protesters grew to about 200, forcing officials to close the school's gate to keep the situation under control. The protesters hurled insults and booed the prime minister.

Mr Abhisit spent only 10 minutes at the school after receiving the briefing on the drought and greeting local leaders, teachers and residents. The strength of the protest persuaded him to cancel his planned inspection of other drought-hit areas. He and his delegation then boarded a helicopter to get to Wing 23 in Udon Thani to catch a flight back to Bangkok, a source said."

New passion of "catch me if you can" Abhisit for military helicopters reminds me Hollywood blockbuster
"Black hawk down". Nong Kai school instead of Mogadishu but the same warm welcome (and the same type of helicopter...).

Slowly but surely, Abhisit is emerging as nothing more than a civilian figure head for the on-going coup, with the army running things and those friendly judges ready to act on orders when someone needs to be eliminated politically with the right court order.

This is what surrounds Parliament now. It's the continuing coup with Junior Abhisit, not General Surayud, as its front man.
