I would bet you that Her Majesty expressed regrets over the deaths of all the people but the Nation had to get in its propaganda message implying something else. Maybe the Nation should be charged with lese majeste for making this look like a royal political statement.

When I first saw the reference to the Nation article last night, I immediately went and read the story (online version) for exactly the reason to see if Her Majesty said anything at all about he other 20 deceased. Seeing nothing about that, I immediately went to the online version of the Bangkok Post to again see if there was any reference to condolennces to the others. No article at all, at least that I can find (although I'll read the print version in an hour or so).

The silence from the palace is both deafening and disturbing.

[attachmentid=774] "Her Majesty the Queen yesterday graciously paid a private visit to soldiers who sustained injuries in last Saturday's clashes and are being treated at Phramongkutklao Hospital. The April 10 violence has caused many deaths on both sides.

One more fatality was reported yesterday, bringing the total to 23, according to the Bangkok Emergency Medical Service and the Erawan Centre of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Centre director Dr Phetpong Kamjornkitjakarn said the latest reported death was a 49-year-old civilian, Saming Taengphet. He was shot in the head during the clashes and died later at Chulalongkorn Hospital."

I've still not read anything that indicates the palace has expressed any condolences regarding the civilian deaths but it must be noted that the palace has announced that it will pay for medical care for all those who died. At least something.

Former Thai Prime Minister Somchai, and Thaksin brother-in-law, visits injured red shirt at hospital.

Looks like they're exchanging visits - instead of bullets.
