Some of you may recall the stories that appeared a few weeks ago that the junta-appointed government had announced that it was increasing military spending by a whopping 34 % in the new budget, raising spending on defense to 115 Billion baht.
It was announced yesterday that the Budget Bureau has slashed 3.8 billion baht from the universal healthcare scheme, formerly known as the 30 Baht Scheme, reducing the budget to 91 Billion Baht.
Virtually all parties involved in administering the health scheme agree that the budget cannot meet the demands for the adequate delivery of univeral and free health services and will only aggravate its funding problems.
Do you get the feeling that certain priorites have changed since the military coup ?
More arms, less health care

In their defense, they do have the insurrection in the south to deal with, which I assume comes from the military budget.
But that still doesn't excuse not funding enough money for health care, does it ? How can the system keep running without enough money ?
