In case you missed it, Bruno's Restaurant on Thappraya "Restaurant" Road going from Pattaya to Jomtien, has moved 50 meters south down the hill to occupy the site of the former and short-lived Sun Dog Diner and which was also the original location of Gian's, and which is now Bruno's new neighbor in the same complex.

To be honest, I never did cotton to the design of the new Bruno's when they moved from north Pattaya to Jomtien and basically copied the old designs and colors of the original Bruno's. Here's hoping that the new new Bruno's has more of a comfortable beach resort feel this time around. It looks like they've done some substantial renovations.

It seems that Bruno's move down the hill is temporary, while the "old" Bruno's 100 meters up the hill is renovated for three months. Most of the decor and furniture has been transplanted to the temporary place but the large windows overlooking Thappraya Road give the place a much more contemporary and open feeling. There is nothing "temporary" about the feel of the new digs.

It's quiet and elegant, except for the changing lights on the bar which seem totally out of sync with the rest of the place. What I don't understand is how it can pay to have spent the money they obviously did to renovate a temporary place in low season for three months. Wouldn't it have been far cheaper to just close the old place for renovations for 90 days ?

The veteran wait staff is still there. The food and service were both good, but then you should be good when you are among the most expensive restaurants in Pattaya. Two courses with one glass of wine cost 1200 baht. You would certainly pay more for a comparable meal in Europe or the US but it's pricey by local standards. Whether you like it or not, it's still one of Pattaya's best IMHO.
