Don't you love the way these Thai news papers try to bend the facts. The General was unarmed and assassinated by what was in all likelihood a professional army sniper firing a long range rifle from the top of a hotel into a Bangkok street. Calling it a "gun attack" makes it sound like he waqs involved in a shootout at the OK Corral. It was murder and trying to claim now that the General was a terrorist is a very clumsy way of trying to cover for murder.

I'm just amazed that they didn't include Osama Bin Laden in their list. These guys at DSI have gone so far over the top that the world is going to start laughing or cringing at the mere mention of the letters DSI. It won't be long before the name Abhisit gets a similar response in most countries that prize civil liberites. Isn't this the way Marcos started ?

I'm glad I started to read this board because the implications of so much of what's discussed here you simply do not find anywhere in the newspapers or other websites. One of the things I've come to appreciate is how quickly the Thai government acts when their political opponents are the targets but how little gets done when government corruption is involved. For example, the DSI has spent years investigating the abduction and presumed murder of a prominent Muslim civil rights lawyer by policemen in Bangkok. No results, no arrest, nothing. They've also come up short after years of trying to find out what happened to the famous stolen Saudi jewels, also allegedly involving rogue cops. Same goes for the lady at the Tourist Board who the US says took millions in bribes in the Bangkok film festival and is still as free as a bird without charges. But give the authorities a few files on the red shirts and they say they caught 26 terrorists in a few weeks. Not only caught, but locked up in jail without bail or trials. It all seems so patently corrupt. Do they think they are fooling anyone ?
