Did you know that in Nazi Germany, the people were urged to notify the state authorities of any German who had a relationship with a "non-Aryan."

History repeats itself:

"Jewish Agency chairman Natan Sharansky has yanked an anti-assimilation ad campaign that has outraged Jews abroad. The campaign was co-sponsored by the government. On Saturday, Sharansky ordered the offending newspaper ads pulled, as well as a video clip portraying young Jews who may marry non-Jews as lost or missing.

The campaign was supposed to strengthen Diaspora Jews' ties to Israel but imploded in a storm of criticism from religious leaders, bloggers and editorial writers, who saw it as an affront to the children of mixed marriages.

The Movement for Progressive Judaism and a leading Jewish Agency official demanded that Sharansky halt the campaign, which urged Israelis to report on Diaspora Jews involved in relationships with non-Jews, [with an international 800 number listed for callers]."

What a stupid campaign. Still I don't think the comparison with the Nazis is fair.

The nazis made marriage with a Jew illegal and a crime. That's very different from this program which seeks to discourage Jews from marrying gentiles, which is similar to the kind of ethnic bias you see in many nationalities to "marry their own kind." Where this program went wrong was in inviting Jews to report other Jews who were involved with Gentiles. That's distasteful and should never have been implemented.

Except in Issan, where "marry a farang" has become a growth industry.

Hehehe....
