The Pattaya Mail reports that in a field estimated at 10,000 participants, the top ten finishers in the Pattaya Marathon last Sunday were all Kenyan men. A Kenyan woman also finished first in the Ladies' competition.
This year's marathon was revamped and renamed “Power Plus" Pattaya, which some suggest was to distance the event from the controversy that almost killed the project last year when all top three Kenyan women runners were disqualified and a Thai woman declared winner. Foreign participants threatened to boycott the event after that fiasco. The winning Thai woman placed second in this year's contest, finishing three minutes behind the Kenyan winner.
