"The Appeals Court on Friday granted Bt 6 million bail for red-shirt leader Veera Musigapong pending indictment and trial on terrorism charge. The high court overturned a lower court's rejection for temporary release after the Thursday's appellate hearing, which the Department of Special Investigation did not oppose bail and three defence witnesses, including secretary general to the prime minister Korbsak Sabhavasu, testified.

The bail conditions include Veera's reporting to the court every 15 day, a ban for travelling abroad and a prohibition against holding or participating in a rally."

You may remember this guy Veera, a former cabinet officer and Chairman of the UDD, was one of the red shirts who appeared in March as part of the negotiating team with Abhisit on TV, trying to end the protests peacefully.

The photo left shows a smiling Abhisit shaking hands with Veera. Now, he's been branded a terrorist.

If Abhisit or the gang running things now had any conscience or class, they would not have imprisoned this man in the first place. Now, they're content to brand him a terrorist, even though the prime minister's own secretary general admitted in court at this bail hearing that Veera was non-violent and a danger to no one; the DSI also had no objection to his release. Requiring 6 million baht and a gag order against speaking at rallies as a condition for bail, from the Chairman of a legitimate political movement, suggests that something other than the law is at work here.

It's worse than that. According to the papers this morning, Veera is also forbidden to talk to the press !
